Summary

Ben Scott, ENWL Environment Manager, hosted a discussion with the panel on the knowledge sharing opportunities for ENWL’s Environmental Action Plan development, focussing on supply chain management, sustainable resource use, waste landfill diversion, waste evacuation reuse, and water consumption. The panel agreed that it would be helpful to establish a procurement-focused task group to look at some of these areas in more detail. Panel members were invited to volunteer to take part.

ENWL Investment Forecasting Manager, Phil McFarlane, provided an update on climate change resilience, including climate change adaptation reporting and our Storm Arwen Re-opener application, before outlining ENWL’s plans to update their Climate Resilience strategy. Climate adaption (enwl.co.uk)

Summary

During the session Ben Scott, our Environment Manager, provided an overview of our final Environment Report for the ED1 business plan period and reviewed our first 6 months’ performance against our new Environmental Action Plan scorecard performance.

Community partnerships manager Helen Seagrave shared details of the our 2023 Powering our Communities Fund 2023 winners and asked for feedback on overview of our updated ED2 community and local energy strategy.

This session included a review of our Environmental Action Plan with Ben Scott, our new Environment Manager, including an understanding the scale of the commitment and ambition of the project, sharing of best practice and linked themes and also get the panel’s feedback on what we would want to see in RIIO-ED3. Richard Mosson, Biodiversity manager, then provided a biodiversity progress update. Ben then wrapped up the session and discussed next steps.

Summary

During the session, Geraldine Paterson, Innovation Manager, provided information on our Innovation Strategy, our priorities and commitments and changes to the innovation funding mechanisms for our current price control period (RIIO-ED2). She also provided updates on some of the existing innovation projects that are currently in development.

Lois Clark, DSO Commercial Lead, provided an update on our current flexibility tender and signposted panel members to the wealth of information that is available on our website via our Open Data Portal and document library. She also shared details of how stakeholders can engage further with us, including our Flex Form event in London on 24 May, as well as our bi-monthly DSO webinars.

Helen Daly, Stakeholder Engagement Manager, confirmed the finalised plan for ENWL’s advisory panels as we move into RIIO-ED2, including this panel, now to be known as the Environment & Sustainability Advisory Panel. Helen provided an overview of the updated terms of reference for the panel which has now been issued.

Finally, Helen Seagrave, Community Energy Manager, announced the launch of Powering our communities fund.
