ENWL025 - Online Neutral Assessment
Online Neutral Assessment aims to develop a tool that DNOs can use to analyse LV monitoring data to enable the early detection of neutral degradation on the LV network.
The project will be split into two phases. Phase 1 will investigate different LV cable types, failure mechanisms for the neutral conductor, and types of data required to enable detection. This will be followed by a stage gate, at which point we will assess whether the project method is viable, before proceeding to phase 2. Phase 2 will develop and test a detection algorithm in a real network environment with a view to incorporating in fault identification and location processes.
Timescales: April 2021 – March 2023.
