Summary

We started the session with a reminder about the new structure of our stakeholder panels across for our current five-year business plan (2023-2028), before moving on to look at the work we are doing specifically in regard to consumers in vulnerable circumstances.

Jill Hendry, our Welfare Innovation Manager, delivered a session on fuel poverty, looking at current statistics before providing an overview of Take Charge – ENWL’s new initiative in partnership with Citizens Advice and Energy Savings Trust. Take Charge helps customers to reduce their energy bills, get support with debt, access benefits and financial support, and secure funding for energy efficient home improvements.

Karen Hunter, our Partnerships and Community Manager, provided an update on our 2024 partnership fund, its two key aims and how partners can get involved. The partnership fund and application form will be going live soon. Contact Partnerships@enwl.co.uk to find out more and to apply.

Finally, Paul Morris, our Partnerships and Engagement Manager, provided an overview of the low carbon transition and the help available to remove barriers that prevent the take-up of low carbon technologies (LCTs) such as electric vehicles and solar panels. ENWL’s LCT programme is available to every household in the north west.

Summary

During the session, Vulnerability Inclusion Manager, Sam Loukes, provided an overview of our 2022/23 Stakeholder Engagement and Consumer Vulnerability (SECV) submission and the score we received from Ofgem in which we ranked 2nd in the league table and were the only DNO singled out in Ofgem’s overall feedback. Sam then lead us into our first table discussion on supporting customers who are struggling to pay and how our respective organisations could provide help to support vulnerable customers.

Paul Morris, Partnership and Community Manager, delivered a session on exceptional events and our collaboration with local resilience forum. This lead us into our second table discussion on supporting customers in exceptional events.

Jill Hendry, Welfare Innovation Manager, then presented information on the low carbon transition and lead our final table discussion on the barriers to adopting LCTs and how we can support.

Summary

During the session Vulnerability Inclusion Manager, Sam Loukes, gave an overview of our achievements during Ofgem’s RIIO ED1, with an emphasis on how this panel has collaborated to support electricity users in vulnerable circumstances.

Customer and Community Development Manager Jo Crinson, provided a delivery partnership update including details of our 2023/24 partner strategy and our revised partnership fund. Sam also gave an update on our new strategic partners and we heard from two of them in Citizens Advice Manchester and the Energy Saving Trust.
