Whichever route you decide to take in your career, the great thing about becoming an apprentice with us is you get to study for a recognised qualification, develop your skills, gain hands on experience all whilst getting paid and without the need for student loans.
We offer a number of Higher Level (Level 4) Apprenticeships in Engineering and IT;
Delivery/Distribution Engineer
You'll be working outdoors to help identify faults, investigate equipment failure and carry out routine maintenance to keep the energy flowing to our customers. You'll need to be creative and use your problem-solving skills to help make sure we can meet our customers' ever-changing needs now and in the future.
Design Engineer
If you're up for the challenge and eager to develop your creative thinking, this is an exciting time to become a design engineer. Working with our experienced design teams, either outdoors or in the office, you'll be planning how we connect homes and businesses to the electricity network.
Project Engineer
You'll learn skills from numerous professional experts from across our business to become an electrical project engineer. You'll manage the construction and installation of new electrical plant which includes project managing activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meeting stakeholder and budget requirements.
Control Engineer
You’ll spend your time learning about our network within our Control Centre in Manchester, fully understanding the 24/7, 365 day operation of the network in the North West. This is an critical role within our business as our Control Engineers carry out real time monitoring and control of our network, ensuring we have a robust Control Room and that during incidents we continute to deliver a comprehensive service to our customers and the wider business.
IT Project Management
You will gain both technical knowledge and relationship building skills needed to be a Project Manager. You will learn how to deliver a project from beginning to end, from having the first conversation, gathering information and preparing a business case to setting-up a project team and delivering the project successfully.
IT Cyber Security
Preventing digital disasters and ultimately stopping cyber-crime is more important than ever as technology becomes increasingly complex. You'll be part of the team identifying and mitigating risk and protecting us from real-life cyber threats.
IT Wintel Engineer
Working with our expert teams you'll gain the skills and experience needed to administer and maintain the infrastructure systems in our data centres and in the cloud. You'll gain a broad knowledge of data centre technologies and Windows services to monitor critical systems, resolve incidents, complete service requests and provide field support in our data centres and offices.
IT Software Tester
You'll work with and learn from the team, getting involved in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment. You'll conduct automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose, works as intended and any bugs or issues are removed from a product before it gets deployed to our crucial business users.
