ENWL016 - Future Network Modelling Functions

ENWL016 - Future Network Modelling Functions

Low carbon technologies and smart grids are asking new, more complex questions of network design and planning. We use a variety of static models for network planning which operate independently and provide a limited range of functionality. This kind of worst case static load analysis is no longer sufficient to meet the challenges of the future.

This research project produced a robust assessment of the expected future requirements for system modelling within a distribution network operator in Great Britain which can be used to inform strategic decision-making.

Timescales: March 2016 – September 2017.
