Little Hulton investment

£1.2m Little Hulton investment

We're delivering the largest ever investment in the North West’s power network, investing over £1bn between 2023 and 2028.

We're committed to maintaining and improving the network through our capital investment programme

This £1.2m capital project investment will significantly enhance the resilience and capacity of the power network in Little Hulton, Salford, Bolton and the surrounding areas. Hundreds of homes and businesses will benefit from the new electricity supply which will future-proof the network to enable local residents and businesses to connect to low carbon technologies such as EV chargers, heat pumps and solar panels.

This project sees the installation of high-voltage underground power cable along a 4km route as well as new equipment installed in our substations.

🔔 Traffic management information

We always aim to carry out our work as planned and with as little disruption as possible. However, the dates we publish for road works can sometimes change. This is because a number of factors outside our control can affect when it is safe or practical for our teams to work, such as weather conditions, ground conditions and emergency repairs.

Project overview

The work runs from March 2026 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2026.

The project supports our commitment to reinforcing the network to increase load capacity across Greater Manchester to enable future development, increase economic growth and connection to low carbon technologies as we become more and more reliant on electricity. Once complete, the project will facilitate an additional 5.4 Megavolt Amperes (MVA) to the local power network - that's enough to power over 2,000 homes.

We are working closely with Salford and Bolton Councils to coordinate works and minimise disruption.

Road closures and diversions are necessary but will be carefully planned and communicated in advance in collaboration with local authorities.

We are committed to keeping residents, businesses, and commuters informed every step of the way.
